Update: Section 7 completed
Saturday 14th September saw the seventh of our Anglesey Coastal Path walks, this time starting from Church Bay. Unfortunately the cafe there didn’t open until 10.00 but our outside catering department provided bacon and sausage baps and tea and coffee before we set out on a glorious sunny day.
This section of the path includes some of the island’s most remote scenery and a lot of the coastline is owned and managed by the National Trust. We passed a sea arch and island at Ynys y Fydlyn, the nature reserve at Cemelyn Bay and the imposing Wylfa Nuclear Power Station. Of course we had a coffee (or tea) break at the halfway point with cake provide by Jane; delicious Welsh cakes baked by Anne and scrummy biscuits from Barbara – both unable to walk with us this time.
Our walk ended in the harbour car park at Cemaes and a well earned late lunch of chips and amazing pizza from a wood fired oven at the cafe there.
Thanks to all involved with the walk and we look forward to seeing you on walk 8 in October.
Section 7 – Church Bay to Cemaes Bay (Approx. 11 miles)
We have now completed 6 sections, another 9 to go! Amazingly we have raised over £2,500 from the 6 walks to date. We would love you to join us on Saturday 14th September to tackle the 7th section.
We will all need to drive to Cemaes Bay to leave some cars at the end of the walk, so please all plan to meet there at 9am and ’buddy-up’. Then drive to the start at Church Bay.
The walk will start at the lovely Wavecrest Café (next to the Lobster Pot) where we will be able to have a coffee and bacon bap for breakfast
This walk is approx 11 miles so should take 5-6 hours. Church Bay postcode is LL65 4EU. Cemaes Bay postcode is LL67 0DU.
Please get in touch if you’d like to join us on the walk and need to find someone to buddy-up with. We have lot’s of people willing and able to help out.
If you’re planning to join us we ask that everyone donates £10 to The Sue Moreton Foundation via this link or by giving £10 on the day. Please make sure you let us know you’re coming.
Please also join our Facebook Group page for details, and more details about the Anglesey Coastal Path Challenge can be found here.
We look forward to seeing you soon!!
