Sections 4 & 5 Double Header: The Anglesey Coastal Path Challenge (Sat 13th and Sun 14th April)

Map Walks 4 and 5

UPDATE: SECTION 4 AND 5 SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED!

The Anglesey Coastal Path challenge continues to delight all who take part in the walks. This time the format changed slightly as we planned to walk for 2 consecutive days.
Day one, Saturday 13th April, was a lovely sunny day as we set out on walk number 4 having enjoyed a breakfast at the Sea Shanty in Trearddur Bay. This walk goes past Porth Dafarch and climbs up towards the South Stack Lighthouse and over Holyhead mountain finishing up at the Holyhead Country Park. Total distance 9.5 miles. There was a well earned barbecue at the Pen y Bont campsite after the walk. Thanks to Olwen and Robyn for letting us organise that.

Day two was duller than the previous day, but no rain thankfully. Again we had breakfast at the Sea Shanty and then headed out to the Holyhead Country Park to make our way back to Four Mile Bridge. This part of the walk passes through Holyhead Port and round the headland to Penrhos Country Park and then over the cob towards Valley. A distance of 6.5 miles.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us on either of those walks and a special thank you to those who did the two days.

Walk 6 is now being planned and we hope to be able to do that during July.

Section 4 on Saturday 13th April – Trearddur Bay to Holyhead Breakwater Country Park (Approx. 9 miles)

This will start from the Sea Shanty (LL65 2YR) meeting at 9am for breakfast. The walk will start at 10am. We finish at the Country Park (LL65 1YG). We will need to arrange for a few cars at each end.

Overnight—we have arranged to camp at Pen-y-Bont campsite. £23 per unit per night incl elec.**Please let Neil know before 31st March if you are camping.** ( Some faint-hearted walkers are arranging to stay B&B close by!) All walkers are invited to join us at Pen-y-Bont for a BBQ after the walk.

Section 5 on Sunday 14th April – Country Park to Pen-y-Bont campsite, Four Mile Bridge. (Approx. 6.5 miles)

Walk 5 will start from the Holyhead Breakwater Country Park at 10.30am on Sunday, and finish at Pen-y-Bont Campsite. Once again we will need cars at each end.

If you’re planning to join us we ask that everyone donates £10 to The Sue Moreton Foundation via this link or by giving £10 on the day. Please make sure you let us know you’re coming.

Please also join our Facebook Group page for details, and more details about the Anglesey Coastal Path Challenge can be found here.
