Hi everyone. We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped us officially inaugurate The Sue Moreton Foundation on our walk on Saturday. In true Sue style we didn’t let the rain spoil the day; every ray of sun breaking through the clouds was greeted with relish and an assured statement from someone proclaiming “that’s it now, the sun is on it’s way”!!
The support and feedback we’ve been getting since announcing the foundation has been overwhelming and humbling. It is testament to the esteem which Sue was held in by her friends and throughout the community. A number of you have been asking how they can support the foundation. At the moment, you can do so in three ways:
1) Taking part in, or organising, fundraising events to raise sponsorship for The Sue Moreton Foundation. The Trustees are keen to help out with these, so please do get in touch with us to let us know what you’re thinking of doing.
2) You can contribute directly to the foundation. Currently this is possible via this link: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/thesuemoretonfoundation
In the near future we will have our bank account set up and plan to set up a more permanent method for people make donations. We’ll be announcing that in the near future. But for now, the just giving link above can accept donations, every penny of which which will go straight to the foundation.
3) As detailed on our website, the foundation has a clear purpose and well defined goals (see below). As you’ll know, our first project to be supported is the Baby Bay Medicare Bedside Cot. These cots cost in the region of £700 per unit, and we have committed to initially purchasing 6 of these to place in the three North Wales maternity units. We are working closely with Sharon Breward MBE of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board to coordinate this, and plan to further expand our ambitions in the future. We are also looking for ways to support people and future projects which meet our goal – if you have any bright ideas then please get in touch with one of the trustees.
The purpose of The Sue Moreton Foundation is to continue Sue’s work by supporting and enabling people who are, like Sue, dedicated to the childcare, midwifery and health visiting profession. The Foundation aims to do this by providing supportive funding to (i) People who wish to train in the field of midwifery and health visiting and (ii) People who (and projects which) promote and advance the issues prevalent throughout the post-natal care period. This support will be focussed in the North Wales area.
Thanks to everyone for their support and words of encouragement so far.
Pat, John, Neil and Brett
